About two-thirds of Richardson is in Dallas County and the northern third is in Collin County. Which side of the line your wreck happened on decides which county’s courts hear the case, so we sort that out on the first call. The firm is led by Dan Wyde, a former prosecutor and twice-elected Criminal Court Judge, and you pay nothing unless we recover.
US 75 (Central Expressway) and the President George Bush Turnpike meet at a stack interchange in Richardson. TxDOT is converting the US 75 HOV lanes between I-635 and SH 121 into toll-free peak-hour technology lanes, with work that began in March 2024 and is expected to finish by the end of 2026. The DART Silver Line, which opened in October 2025, stops at CityLine and UT Dallas. The city’s own crash study found that 63 percent of fatal and serious-injury crashes happen on just 6 percent of its streets, mostly the big arterials. That count leaves out the US 75 and Bush Turnpike main lanes.
Richardson police file a Texas CR-3 report when a crash causes any injury or at least $1,000 in damage. Smaller no-injury crashes are logged on a “call card” instead. You can buy a CR-3 for $6 in person at the Richardson Police Department Records Unit, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (no cards, and no bills over $20), or online through TxDOT’s Crash Records Information System for $6, or $8 certified.
Methodist Richardson Medical Center on the President George Bush Highway is a Level III trauma center and a comprehensive stroke center, and Methodist runs a second ER on West Campbell Road. Get evaluated the same day, even for what feels like a minor ache. A treatment gap gives the insurer an easy argument.
A wreck on the Dallas County side is filed at the George L. Allen Sr. Courts Building in downtown Dallas, where the County Courts at Law can hear civil cases of any amount. A wreck on the Collin County side goes to the Russell A. Steindam Courts Building in McKinney. Collin County’s Justice of the Peace courts in Plano (Precinct 3) and Lavon (Precinct 2) both serve parts of Richardson for smaller claims. Juries in the two counties are drawn from different communities, and we factor that into how we value and prepare your case.
Richardson recorded 6,292 crashes from 2020 through 2024, and 195 of them killed or seriously injured someone.
