Garland sits mostly in Dallas County, with small pieces in Collin and Rockwall counties. If you were hurt in a wreck here, Wyde & Associates can take the claim from the first call with the adjuster to a courtroom if it comes to that. Our firm is led by Dan Wyde, a former prosecutor and twice-elected Criminal Court Judge. You owe no fee unless we recover for you.
Garland is served by I-30, I-635 (LBJ Freeway) and the President George Bush Turnpike, and SH 66 and SH 78 run through town. Belt Line Road turns into First Street and then Broadway Boulevard inside the city, and Northwest Highway carries heavy cross-town traffic. TxDOT’s $1.74 billion 635 East rebuild widened 11 miles of LBJ between US 75 and I-30 and wrapped up in September 2026 after six years of work zones. The I-30 expansion from Bass Pro Drive east across Lake Ray Hubbard is still under construction. A crash in a work zone can raise questions about lane shifts, signage and the contractor’s role, and those are worth looking at early, while the scene still looks the way it did.
When Garland police work a crash with injuries or real damage, the officer files a Texas CR-3 report. You can buy a copy online from TxDOT’s Crash Records Information System for $6, or $8 for a certified copy, or ask the Garland Police Department’s Records Division. Texas limits the full report to the people involved, vehicle owners, insurers and a few others under Transportation Code § 550.065. We pull the report for our clients, so you do not have to.
Garland’s former Baylor hospital is now a VA medical center, so most people hurt in a Garland wreck are seen at a freestanding ER or a hospital in a neighboring city. Medical City ER Garland on West Buckingham Road is a 24-hour freestanding ER, and Baylor Scott & White Medical Center–Lake Pointe in nearby Rowlett is a Level III trauma facility. Get seen the same day even if you feel fine. Soreness from a wreck often shows up a day or two later, and insurers point to any gap in treatment when they value a claim.
Justice of the Peace Precinct 2, Place 1 sits at 140 N. Garland Avenue and hears smaller civil claims, up to $20,000. Injury lawsuits from Garland wrecks are usually filed at the George L. Allen Sr. Courts Building in downtown Dallas, home to the county’s civil district courts and County Courts at Law. Dallas County’s County Courts at Law can hear civil cases of any amount. Most of our clients never go to court at all because we handle the case for them.
TxDOT counted 3,195 crashes in Garland in 2024. Sixteen were fatal and 94 caused suspected serious injuries.
